Knitting Olympics Warmup progress

I'm not making much progress on this baby blanket I started back in Dec 2005. I need a baby gift by July 22 and thought thisKOW would motivate me to finish it faster. Unfortunately I haven't made much of a dent. No new photos to share cuz it looks pretty much like the photo here. It's only grown by 3.5" and is now 18.5" (47 cm). To put things in perspective, only 27 repeats have been completed on the blanket (4-row repeat). It takes about 20 minutes for me to finish each 240 st row. That means I've already put in about 36 hrs of knitting into these 25,920 sts, and I am about halfway done. It would seem that I would need to put in 3.6 hrs of knitting each day between now and July 6 to get this done. Sigh... I am not feeling so motivated right now... there is no light at the end of this tunnel...

But that's not to say that I haven't done any knitting lately. I've done just enough knitting and/or typing lately that my wrists actually hurt!!!

The photo above shows what I've been pushing around a needle lately. Yes, that's right, it is not the baby blanket I'm supposed to be working on...

You only HAVE to do four rows a day. Anything else is gravy.

That's what I tell myself when I am stuck.

The pattern is beautiful and the color is stunning. I can sympathize with being able to work on only a few rows a day. I am working on a round shawl and it is taking nearly one hour to knit one row completely in the round. All I can say is keep at it and sooner (or later!) it will be done.

Marie, Marie, Marie daaaarling.
All you need for a motivator is to reward yourself with yarn bucks for every blanke row you finish, say...a buck a row. Need I say more ;-)
